WWE legend Rey Mysterio is a ‘miracle,’ broadcaster Corey Graves as Hall of Famer prepares for Triplemania 34
September 11 2026, 08:00

Rey Mysterio will take on Omos in the main event of Triplemania 34 Night 1 on Friday night as Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide hosts the event in the United States for the first time.

Mysterio, who is the AAA general manager, got into a brawl with Omos in one of the final AAA shows before TripleMania. Mysterio initially suspended Omos for attacking him in August but returned to the fold as a paid spectator. Still, the 7-foot-3 giant still got his licks in on Mysterio. It culminated in a match at Triplemania 34. If Omos wins, he will be reinstated to the AAA roster. He has Dominik Mysterio in his corner for the match as El Grande Americano will back up Rey Mysterio. Dominik Mysterio takes on El Grande Americano on Sunday night in Night 2 with the AAA Mega Championship on the line.

Corey Graves will be on the call for Triplemania. He called Rey Mysterio a "miracle" given how well the WWE Hall of Famer has still been able to perform at a high level at 51 years old.

"Rey to me is a miracle," Graves told OutKick Dropkick. "I actually had a chance to say to Rey a few months back. We were on the road, god knows where, and I've gotten to do commentary with Rey a lot lately. Obviously, I've called a great deal of his career and become friends with him and I actually had to stop myself. We were in the restaurant in the hotel and I said, ‘Hey, Rey, I feel like you and I have become friends to a point where I forget to tell you, you're my favorite wrestler.’ And to have him still around and as much knowledge and experience as Rey has and physically speaking to move like he has not lost a step in 30 years — it's a miracle."

Mysterio has one of his biggest challenges yet. At 5-foot-6, Mysterio has been more than capable of taking down any opponent who has come at him throughout his career.

Omos is a completely different beast. Graves described it as a true David vs. Goliath story.

"Now you've got Rey in the main event of Triplemania, which in a way is sort of full circle," Graves said. "Rey began in AAA and has competed in Triplemanias, but main eventing in a different country versus Omos – this is a true David and Goliath story taking place within the confines of the world of Lucha Libre.

"So, hopefully it captivates the imaginations of people who may not be diehard Lucha fans or may not even know what they want to do Friday night in Las Vegas. ‘Hey, what's going on?’ Come see Lucha Libre. I promise you, it's unlike anything you've ever experienced. It's the most passionate fan base in the WWE universe. It's just fun, man. And to see a legend, a bona fide living legend like Rey Mysterio competing in the main event still at the highest level possible, you can't say enough about Rey and how incredible he's been."

Night 1 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event can be seen on YouTube at 10 p.m. ET. Night 2 is set for Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Sunday night.
